I just realized something. There's no rule which limits the number of suffixes a be-verb acting as an adjective can actually have. There's no rule which prohibits placing all of the three legal suffixes on a be-verb acting as an adjective. So, it's perfectly correct to write: Duj ngaDHa'qu'be' not very unstable ship Right ? ~ Qa'yIn

This is rather twisted, but it came to me and I can't not ask. Qap yuQDaj 'e' tul nuv a person hopes that his planet wins Qap yuQDaj 'e' tulbogh nuv luHoH romuluSngan the romulans kill the person who hopes that his planet wins And here it comes.. Qap yuQDaj; Dun 'e' tulbogh nuv his planet wins; the person who hopes that is great (I placed the semicolon just to show how I understand the sentence) Is there anything wrong with writing something like this ? While sorting the new words, I noticed another "hidden" word. You might say it's not a word, but Okrand might have said it differently, like QujwI' or reHwI', but he chose this: {'ovwI'} - player in a card game Literally, this is "competitor". The request for the new word {ghIchDep} was "traveling amusement park". The canon definition for it is "fair, funfair" (which I understand so far as a traveling "Disneyland") but also "carnival" and "circus". I'm just checking that I'm getting this right; "carnival" reminds me of dancing people in the street, as you might know from Brasil, and also disguised in Germany nd other countries. "Circus" makes me think of a big tent with clowns, artists and dancing elephants. Is that correct? Or do americans use "circus" to refer to a funfair? -- Lieven L. My question might be related to English, not Klingon, but how is "be glossy" [new word {chorgh}] different from "be shiny" [old word {boch}]? The request was "have a smooth, silk-like, reflective surface" and I think that a shiny blade, which is {boch} does have such a surface. So what's the point? I've been going through the various time telling methods. method #1: (from: "maltz online", HolQeD 8:1, pages 7-12) tera' rep loS wejmaH "Earth hour 4:30" method #2: (same source) cha'logh Qoylu'pu'. method #3: (Eurotalk TalkNow! Klingon) Five to twelve (11:55) a.m. wa'maH wa'vatlh vaghmaH vagh rep 11:55 p.m. (23:55) cha'maH wejvatlh vaghmaH vagh rep As far as the first two methods are concerned, I read okrand's explanation with regards to when they are to be used and/or how and why each method originated. Strangely though, I didn't see in the eurotalk any description as to when this specific method of telling time is to be used, or how it originated in the first place. Which brings me to the question of this post.. Among the various time telling methods, is there a method which is supposed to be used in more formal settings than the rest ? And when I say "formal settings" I mean weddings, court trials, religious texts, etc. ~ Qa'yIn

Suppose we write: nav vIghajbe', ghItlhwI' vIghajbe' je I don't have a pen nor do I have a paper qovIjmey vIQejbe', ngavyaw'mey vIQejbe' je I don't like small canine-like creatures nor do I like big ones Is there a problem using {je} this way ? I'm asking because it's pretty tempting to translate these sentences as: nav vIghajbe', ghItlhwI' vIghajbe' je I don't have a paper, I don't have a pen too qovIjmey vIQejbe', ngavyaw'mey vIQejbe' je I don't love small canine-like creatures, I don't like big ones too The last two fse translations "sound" strange for some reason which I can't quite understand. On the other hand, I don't "feel" anything wrong with the klingon ones. ~ Qa'yIn
