What do people think about the following Klingon "words" from paq'batlh? They don't appear in the main (Klingon-language) text, but are used in otherwise English sentences in the introduction or footnotes. xxii. {Huy'reH} "aria style" xxii, 62, 87. {cha'ang} "chorus style" xvii, xxii, xxxv. {Qich'lut} "narrator style" xix. {paq'jachchu} "Book of the Perfect Scream" {Huy'reH} and {cha'ang}, at least, seem to follow proper modern {tlhIngan Hol} phonology. {Qich'lut} has a lower-cased "i" and an out-of-place {qaghwI'}. {paq'jachchu} has that apostrophe after {paq} and a missing {qaghwI'} at the end (if the {jachchu} part is indeed the verb {jachchu'}, as the English translation seems to indicate). On p.xxx, it is explicitly stated that the name {paq'batlh} is in {no' Hol} and that the apostrophe may be a clue to some missing grammatical element. Of course, the book also has sections named {paq'yav}, {paq'raD}, and {paq'QIH}. So {paq'jachchu} is probably just spelled weirdly for the same reason. Should {Huy'reH} and {cha'ang} be accepted as canon Klingon words as-is? In other words, would you expect them in a new words list? (In particular, I am asking if they should be listed in {boQwI'}.) The word {Qich'lut} is spelled that way all three times it appears in the book. I notice that in previous discussions on this mailing list, 'IQqu' and Voragh have both spelled it as {QIch lut} (capital-I, no apostrophe, space between the two words). Should {QIch lut} be accepted as the "modern" spelling for the purpose of look-up in word lists? -- De'vID

Did anyone ever put together a list of errata for the {paq'batlh}? I'm about to send off my own list to the publisher. But if anyone else has compiled a list, please let me know in case I missed something. -- De'vID

Pronouns for irregular plurals

As I understand it, irregular plurals like {cha}, {ngop}, {negh}, and {no'} are treated as grammatically singular. But does that extend to pronouns? The following sentences don’t bother me that much: {ngop wISay'moH} {Dulegh'a' negh?} {no' luqaw} {cha yIghuS!} But these seem downright weird: {nuqDaq 'oH ngop'e'?} {'Iv ghaH no'ra''e'?} {cha 'oH'a'?} {negh ghaHlaw'.} Do we have canonical evidence of pronouns used to stand in for irregular plural nouns?

The dialog lifted from “Conversational Klingon” should be played one phrase per measure in the interlude between the second refrain and the final verse, timed with the bass drum beats. It would ideally be the original audio from the audiobook, heavily distorted to make it sound like its being spoken through a pipe, but if the pacing of the original audio isn’t suitable, or if there’s some other reason it doesn’t sound good, then it can be replaced with a new performance, with suitable audio distortion. The text interleaved into the lines of the final verse should be performed with a distortion similar to the text in the interlude. It takes the place of the “echo” in the last verse of the Terran version of the song. Rather than repeating the refrain ad infinitum and fading out, as with the Terran version, this song should have a definitive end, either with an abrupt cutoff, or an orchestra hit or something. The bit about an 'o'megh can be recited either after the music has finished, or while the instrumental track continues without vocals, to be followed by the end of the music. Or that part can be ignored, and the song can fade out with an 'o'meghqoq just like the Terran version.

Haw'

The verb {Haw'} is defined as "flee, get out". Now read the relevant definitions of "flee", from the marrion-webster. a : to run away often from danger or evil. b : to hurry toward a place of security. And now, I ask.. Does the {Haw'} *have* to always have the sense of "getting out in a hurry" ? Can't I use it, to mean the "simple/relaxed/casual" getting out from a place ? Because, if the only meaning it can have, is the *getting out in a hurry", then how the frack, do I express the "getting out of" of the simple kind ? ~ mhhmhm

dishonorable vs dishonored

I want to say "a dishonorable warrior", but unfortunately we only have {quvHa'}, which is given as "be dishonored". So, my problem is (again) the fact that english isn't my native language.. The way I understand "dishonorable" is that someone "is dishonorable". And the way I understand "dishonored", is that "someone has been dishonored by someone or something". Back to the original question, if I want to describe a warrior who is dishonorable, but "hasn't been dishonored by a specific event or person", then how do I say it ? Is the english "dishonored warrior", significantly different from "dishonorable warrior" ? I thought of writing {quvbe'bogh SuvwI'}, however can't this be understood as "a warrior who isn't honorable on one hand, but isn't dishonorable on the other" ? Can't this mean just "a warrior who's somewhere in between" ? Anyways, cutting to the chase, (as americans say), how would you say "dishonorable warrior" ? Would you settle for a mere {SuvwI' quvHa'}, and pray to kahless that the reader gets it ? ~ bara'qa'
