et cetera {latlh je} in reference to nouns or verbs or both

If someone asked me to describe my understanding of the english "et cetera/etc", I'd write the following two sentences: "I like cats, dogs, rabbits, squirrels, etc" "Whenever I walk, run, travel, do my homework, etc, I listen to music" In the first sentence, the "et cetera" is used in reference to nouns, while on the second in reference to verbs. However, here: https://www.dictionary.com/browse/etc, I read: ---------- etc. abbreviation and others; and so forth; and so on (used to indicate that more of the same sort or class might have been mentioned, but for brevity have been omitted): You can leave your coats, umbrellas, etc., at the door. ---------- So, I don't know whether my understanding of the english "etc" was correct, since I believed that it *could* be used too, in reference to verbs, while here seemingly/apparently it says that it is used after a string/sequence of nouns. But the real matter is what's the case with the klingon {latlh je}; is it to be used only with reference to nouns, or can it be used in reference to verbs too? If I write the following then it's obviously correct: tlhInganpu', romuluSnganpu', vulqanganpu', latlh je vIpar. I dislike klingons, romulans, vulcans, etc. But can I write the following too? jIqettaHvIS, jIvumtaHvIS, jISeDtaHvIS, jIHaDtaHvIS, latlh je, jIDoy'choH. While I run, work, drive, study, etc, I become tired. I know that the klingon {latlh je} is essentially "and others", since the {latlh} is a noun (so one would expect it to being used only in reference to nouns..), but I'm wondering whether the {latlh je} can be considered a "set phrase" something like the {tu'lu'} which we never write as {lutu'lu'}. ~ Dana'an

I think I just realized that years now, I understand wrongly the verbs {tob} and {Daj}. But before I start, just to be on the same page (as americans say), here are the definitions: tob (v) test conclusively, prove Daj (v) test inconclusively Suppose I write the following sentences: nger vItobpu' nger vIDajpu' Years now, I thought that the {nger vItobpu'} means "I proved that the theory is correct", and that the {nger vIDajpu'} means "I proved that the theory is wrong". But now I realized that the meanings are rather the folllowing: nger vItobpu' I tested conclusively the theory (I say that I tested it thoroughly, but without this meaning that the theory is necessarily correct; after the "testing" finished, perhaps the conclusion was that the theory was perfectly wrong) nger vIDajpu' I tested inconclusively the theory (I just say that I didn't thoroughly test the theory; it may be a valid theory, or it may be a wrong one, but the "testing" wasn't thorough/effective enough to come to definite conclusion) Is my understanding correct? ~ Dana'an

Present tense and context

Sometimes the more you learn, the more insecure you feel. In TKD, section 4.2.7 we read: <The absence of a Type 7 suffix usually means that the action is not completed and is not continuous (that is, it is not one of the things indicated by the Type 7 suffixes). Verbs with no Type 7 suffix are translated by the English simple present tense. (...) When the context is appropriate, verbs without a Type 7 suffix may be translated by the English future tense (will), but the real feeling of the Klingon is closer to English sentences such as *We fly tomorrow at dawn*, where the present-tense verb refers to an event in the future.> I guess Okrand forgot the (imperfective) past tense, so it should actually say: *may be translated by the English future tense (will) or simple past*. My question is: If you don't have any specific context or any words indicating past or future, should you interpret a verb with no Type 7 suffix as present (as suggested by this quotation of TKD)? Of course, there is (almost) always a context, but sometimes it takes a little bit till context is clear. If a Klingon read at the beginning of a text: *tera'Daq Dab muchwI' noy*, will she or he interpret it as present, because if you want it to mean past or future you MUST use a time expression or a clear context, or will she or he simply not interpret it as present / past / future till context or a time expression clarify it (which could be pretty confusing)? Let me put it other way: MUST I always use a clear context or a time expression to get the meaning of present (i.e. be very careful to be sure present is the only possible interpretation in a text), or can I assume that, if no other word or context indicate past or future, the listener / the reader will understand a verb with no Type 7 suffix as present? Or am I missing something? Thank you!
