I had already forwarded the word for "palace", which had been used in this latest episode, but there are two more words that could only be released after you have seen the episode. From Marc Okrand: --------------------------- {San} can be translated as either "fate" or "destiny" (and probably some other things). For “parallel universe,” I’d go with {'u' quq}, using {quq} "happen simultaneously, be simultaneous." {quq} is okay for "parallel" (in this sense). (1) Just as a "parallel universe" can't exist by itself (there has to be a universe -- presumably ours -- that it's parallel to), a "simultaneous universe" can't exist by itself. In both cases, you can refer to one universe at a time -- you don't always have to mention both (or several). (2) For "mirror universe," I suggest {Dop} "be opposite, antithetical, contradictory" (yes — this is a new word). If they're not making a real distinction between "parallel" and "mirror" (that is, if they're using the words interchangeably), I'd stick with {quq}. (3) --------------------------- Notes from me: 1) This second line appeared because I asked if the word works for "parallel", so it only works here, not in general literally. 2) This explanation was if anyone asks whether {quq} as a verb must have two subjects. 3) They ARE making a distinction, so I used both words. -- Lieven L. I just realized, there is something I don't know with regards to the {rIntaH}.. Is it only to be used with regards to action which happened intentionally ? I know we can say: {vIghro' vIje' rIntaH} I bought a cat But if we say: {muD Dotlh bIrmo' taD rIntaH vIghro'} because of the cold weather the cat froze Would it be correct ? ~ nI'ghma

A fellow Klingon Assault Group member, Jaymz Smith of the IKV Swifthawk, shared to our member forum this email he received from Dr. Okrand: ------------------------------------------- Jaymz — Sorry to have been sluggish in getting back to you. I ended up doing a lot of traveling last year (after my visit to Vulcan) — several US cities and a couple trips to Europe (most of the traveling was related to Klingon somehow). Things didn't calm down until after the holidays. So… For "Swifthawk," I'd go with 'apuStoQ. This is a new word (mostly). The toQ part means a particular kind of Klingon bird of prey (a bird, not a space vessel — the Klingon Bird of Prey ship is toQDuj). The 'apuStoQ is a bird of prey, a hawk-like bird, that flies particularly fast. A Klingon way to say "dungeon" is wutlh pa'. This is literally "underground room." There's no word for "cuddle," but yachchuq gets us kind of close. The verb yach means "pet" or "stroke" (like petting a dog), and yachchuq means "pet each other" or something like that. yachchuqmeH means "for the purpose of petting each other." So yachchuqmeH wutlh pa' is "underground room for petting one another" — that is, "cuddling dungeon." If I've misunderstood what you mean by "cuddling dungeon," let me know.
