(continuing from another thread) ghunchu'wI' > Consider using {bov} “era” for this > meaning of "ages". Sometime in the past, I'd toyed with "how to express middle ages". After googling "middle ages", to find out *when* the middle ages actually was, I came up with "time period between 476 c.e. and 1453 c.e.". So, I thought of saying something like: {qaSchoH tera' DIS loS-Soch-jav, ngugh qaSchoH bov potlh, 'ej qaSchoHDI' tera' DIS wa'-loS-vagh-wej, Dor bovvam potlh} or {qaSchoHDI' tera' DIS loS-Soch-jav, qaSchoH bov potlh, 'ej qaSchoHDI' tera' DIS wa'-loS-vagh-wej, Dor bovvam potlh} And from that point on, resuming the passage by referring to the middle ages as {bov potlh} or {bov qab}, or by any other adjective I'd used in the original description. But in the end, I didn't know, if after all these {qaSchoH}, {qaSchoHDI'}, and {Dor}, the meaning would have indeed become clear to the reader. Of course, if anyone has any ideas on the matter, then, qeylIS knows, I'd like to read them.. ~ khkhhk

Each year one qep'a' and one qepHom take place. And as soon as they have taken place, the corresponding leaflet, which reveals the new vocabulary, grammar etc, is posted on this list. The only leaflets/pdf etc, that I have are the ones of the qep'a'/qepHommey having taken place from the summer of 2016, until now, since I joined this list, a few months before 2016. Okay, I've no idea what "topic noun" or "clause" is, because at the brain factory, someone forgot to install in my brain the "ability to understand grammar terms" circuit.. But I wrote the title this way because it sounds cool.. Anyways, lets get to the point.. Suppose I write a looong passage, with regards to romulans who feed a cat. At the story there is a third party, which is "we". At some point, I want to say "we respect the romulans who see the cat". Normally, that would be: {vIghro' luje'bogh romuluSnganpu' DIvuv} The question now is: At the klingon sentence above, do I *have* to write/include the {romuluSnganpu'} ? Would it be correct to just write {vIghro' luje'bogh DIvuv}, with the {DI-} obviously referring to the (obviously) plural subject of {je'} ? Remember, that the passage is looong, that there are only three parties involved (the cat, the romulans, and us), and that by the time we come to the need to write the sentence we talk about, it's crystal clear that it is the romulans we respect. ~ m. qunen'oS
