This came up in a conversation and I started wondering how the original Klingon version looks like. If you're not familiar with Shakespeare, the sentence is ambiguous. It can be interpreted to mean "The Duke, whom Henry will overthrow, is still alive" or "The Duke, who will overthrow Henry, is still alive". I don't know what Klingon rank got mangled into "Duke" in English. But what's the grammatical structure that allows for this ambiguity in the original Klingon? -- De'vID

{gher'ID} (n) "results, outcome, effect, repercussions, consequence, ramification". The words "results/outcome/effect" -the way I understand them- are neutral; i.e. we can have a positive or negative result, a positive or negative outcome, a positive or negative effect. But googling repercussion/ramification I found: - repercussion: "an unintended consequence of an event or action, especially an unwelcome one". - ramification: "a complex or unwelcome consequence of an action or event". So, when it comes to the klingon noun {gher'ID} do we use it for results/outcomes/effects which are good, which are bad, or can we use it for both? ~ Dana'an

expressing "the nerve of this guy"

In english we say "can you believe, the nerve of this guy?", which I think is described by one of the meanings of the adjective "bold" as "impudent/presumptuous", as is shown here: https://www.merriam-webster.com/dictionary/bold. Also, according to merriam-webster one of the definitions of "nerve" is: "assurance, boldness also: presumptuous audacity: gall". (https://www.merriam-webster.com/dictionary/nerve) So, I ask.. You want to say "Can you imagine the nerve of that guy? Although he crashed my car, he wants me to pay for the damages he caused to that poor man's house too". How would you express in klingon this meaning of the word "nerve"? I don't think we could use the verb {jaq}, since according to kgt, the {jaqmoH} "embolden" can be said of music, which I don't think means the negative meaning of "the nerve of that guy". ~ Dana'an
