Suppose we write: {vutwI' Duj nISwI' 'obe' je}. To avoid misunderstandings, it would be a good idea to place a comma as such: {vutwI' Duj, nISwI' 'obe' je}. So far so good; but now I wonder.. If we had a simple construction as {tlhInganpu' Humanpu' je}, would it be wrong to write {tlhInganpu', Humanpu' je} ? Is there a rule or reason which prohibits the placement of a comma between two "simple" nouns joined by {je} ? Now, perhaps someone wonders "why would I want to do that?" For reasons of consistency. If I'm placing a comma between two compound nouns, then why not place a comma between two "simple" nouns too ? ~ mayqel qunen'oS

Qugh: NEW POETRY MAGAZINE

Greetings, speakers and poets of the Klingon language! I would happily like to announce the start of yet another Klingon-language literary project. While *'eSrIv* will with any luck eventually be made into a physical compilation that everyone can put onto their bookshelves, it exists exclusively online. Now, I am seeking to make a physical publication presenting high-quality, Klingon-language poetry. To that end, I would like to announce the creation of *Qugh*, a bi-monthly magazine dedicated to mostly short-form, original poetry. I will not be accepting translations. Due to being a poor art student, I am unfortunately unable to provide the compensation that the contributing poets will deserve. Any poems you provide will be submitted gratis. Suppose someone asks: {qatlh choqIppu'?}/{qatlh choqIppta'?}. Somehow, I get the impression that by answering {qaqIpta'be'}, this answer could be interpreted as "I hit you, but it wasn't on purpose." Somehow, I get the impression that by combining {-ta'} with {-be'}, the listener could *still* understand that the action took place, but that it wasn't intentional. So, is this the case indeed? Does the {-ta'} leave room for interpretation for the {-pu'}? ~ mayqel qunen'oS

Unless someone: a. talks in his sleep b. is drunk/intoxicated c. is being possessed by the devil then I think that *always* we can use {-ta'} instead of {-pu'} to refer to the event of speech which has taken place. So, we can say {jatlhta'} instead of {jatlhpu'}, {ja'ta'} instead of {ja'pu'}, and (although they don't typically qualify as verbs of speech) {ghelta'} and {jangta'}. With the exception of the three cases already mentioned, people talk intentionally. They set out to talk, and then do so. Whether they finally end up saying the things they wanted to say is another story. But the "talking event", (where the aspect suffix refers), is always intentional. ~ mayqel qunen'oS
