Hello, a while ago, De'vID pointed me to this German author who published his bedtime story in over sixty languages as a bilingual book. It was quickly decided that this needs to be done in Klingon, and now I can proudly tell you that it's finished. It's a very short story and absolutely not related to Klingons, but if you are searching for a special christmas gift, or just like to read a Klingon story to your toddler, this is certainly a good thing to have. The most notable fact is that it's available in any possible combination of those sixty languages. So if you wish to have it Persian-Klingon, just go to the website and order your book. We can say: {potlh paqmey DuSaQmey je'} books and schools are important But can we say the following too ? {paqmey DuSaQmey je potlh} important books and schools Or do we necessarily need to say the following ? {paqmey potlh DuSaQmey potlh je} important books and important schools Perhaps it may seem as a rather simple question, but there's something seemingly strange, to seeing an adjective not following directly the noun, to which it acts as an adjective. ~ bara'qa'

tu'lu' prefix with countable nouns

First, lets take a walk down memory lane.. Recently, lieven revealed, that okrand revealed, that maltz had revealed.. *** revelation start *** Regarding the problem we recently had with {'ar}, Okrand answered: Plural if the questioned noun can be singular or plural (it lacks a plural suffix) and the translation is “how many?”; singular if the questioned noun is something that can’t be counted and the translation is “how much?” So {Duj ’ar DIlegh?} “How many ships do we see?” {bIQ ’ar wIlegh?} “How much water do we see? *** revelation end *** So, here comes the question.. I want to say: "how many ships are there ?" Do I say {Duj 'ar tu'lu' ?} ? Or do I say {Duj 'ar lutu'lu'} ? Does the new insight on {'ar}, "outweight" the "pedantic" flavor of the {lutu'lu'} ? Or is our beloved {tu'lu'} too tough a nut to crack, even for the newly revealed {'ar} knowledge, thus being able to survive it ? ~ bara'qa'

What’s your take on what the referent is for the SAO pronoun in {'e' neHbe' vavoy} from TUC? I really doubt it’s the actual previous sentence as a whole ({QamvIS Hegh qaq law' torvIS yIn qaq puS}) because it doesn’t make a whole lot of sense for the late chancellor to have not wanted that comparison to be true, which is how I would interpret {'e'} actually replacing that whole sentence. So I suspect that in this case {'e'} is either replacing a part of the previous sentence (which part is understood from context), or it’s replacing a previous sentence as a whole other than the immediately preceding one (likely {DIHIvlaHtaHvIS DaH DIHIvnIS}), or it’s just referring to some contextually understood “that” which everybody in the conversation is already aware of. My current thinking is it’s most likely referring to the {DIHIvnIS}, which is still not a usage that the description in TKD supports.
