Can I say {ben 'ar} ?

I don't see any reason against it, but I would like to make certain anyways. Can I say {ben 'ar Sorvo' vIghro' Dajotlhpu'}, for "how many years ago did you take down the cat from the tree" ? Or is it that because of some reason, we can't use the {'ar} with {ben} ? mayqel *I love maltz* qunen'oS

The prefix trick and indefinite subjects

I asked this question on the Discord server a while back and got an opinion, but I wondered about it again recently, so I was curious to hear other opinions. Can the prefix trick be used with -lu'? For example, vIleghlu': I was seen Or do we have to make the indefinite subject explicit, with vay': mulegh vay': Somebody saw me My feeling is that vIleghlu' is okay, which lines up with the opinion I got when I asked (something like “we haven’t seen it done, but there doesn’t seem to be any reason not to do that”). I guess that leads me to a second part of the question, which is whether there’s some nuance in meaning between using -lu' with no subject and vay' as the subject. The fact that “(wot)laH vay'” is the grammatically correct alternative to the slang type 5 verb suffix -luH suggests to me that maybe they’re effectively equivalent. But if there’s more to it I am curious to learn. As a side note, I always though “qeylIS lIjlaHbe'bogh vay'” was a little weird when you could just as easily say “qeylIS lIjlaHbogh pagh” (and when the latter sounds more natural when you translate it directly into English), until I learned that -laH + vay' is the official way to get around the fact that -laH and -lu' are the same suffix type. I was actually a little disappointed when I learned that “qeylIS lIjlaHbogh pagh” was used in paq'batlh.

Is there any evidence or possibility that {Qogh} refers to Commander Kruge's pet animal? The word originated from TKD ans was used in Power Klingon like a pet animal {qu'bej QoghlIj} - but is there any more information? -- Lieven L. Clean all the plates

I was recently considering the difference in meaning between “every” and “all” when Hoch precedes a non-explicitly marked plural and an explicitly marked plural, respectively. I was uncertain how this interacts with irregular plurals, which are grammatically singular. Are they considered explicitly plural because they are a plural form semantically, or does explicitly plural mean that a plural suffix must be used? Consider: raS yISay'moH: clean the table raS tISay'moH / raSmey tISay'moH: clean the tables jengva' yISay'moH: clean the plate ngop yISay'moH: clean the plates but not: *ngop tISay'moH “Clean every plate” would obviously be “Hoch jengva' yISay'moH”, but for “clean all the plates” would it be: 1) Hoch ngop yISay'moH 2) Hoch ngopmey yISay'moH 3) Hoch ngopmey tISay'moH 4) Hoch jengva'mey tISay'moH (Assume you’re not already saying jengva'mey because the plates are scattered all over the place) 5) Something else 6) We don’t know My instinct is (1), but my instinct is often wrong.
