I'm in the unusual position* that I maintain a lexicon (the {boQwI'} database) which is used mostly by other people, so if I have an entry for "quantum physicist" (because Okrand revealed {'otlhQeD} and {'otlhtej} together), and an entry for {HapQeD} "physics" but *not* a corresponding entry for {Haptej} "physicist", it looks inconsistent. "Physicist", "chemist", and "genealogist" are common enough words, and their Klingon etymology obvious enough, that I'm going to add entries for them. However, I'm hesitant to add "archaeologist" or "geneticist" since the {QeD} isn't attached to a known word in {roSqa'QeD} or {rayQeD}. Or would people accept {roSqa'tej} and {raytej} as legitimate "dictionary words" under the {XQeD} -> {Xtej} rule-of-thumb? (In the other direction: Is there anyone who would *not* accept {Haptej} for "physicist", simply because Okrand didn't *explicitly* write it out somewhere, despite the fact that Okrand explained the rule for deriving it, and explicitly revealed the pair {'otlhQeD}-{'otlhtej} for a *specific* type of physicist?) I'm on the fence about {DI'ruj tej}, which would be something like "metaphysicist" or "metaphysician", because it's kind of an obscure word in English. Should I add an entry for it? I suppose I'm not completely consistent, because another productive rule is that any place name can have {ngan} attached. But I'm not adding terms for "Londoner", "Berliner" (the person, not the doughnut), etc., because they're both obvious and numerous. *Besides {boQwI'}, the only popular Klingon lexicons used by many people (which I'm aware of) are hol.kag.org and klingonska.org. The KLI new words list is different from these in that its mission is to document only new words revealed (explicitly) by Okrand, so it makes that that list would have {'otlhtej} but not {Haptej}, if Okrand revealed the former but not the latter. -- De'vID

Hi everyone This is my first message to the list, how exciting. I am a bit unsure about {DI'ruj tej} being used at all because as far as I understand it {tej} is 'scientist' whereas metaphysics is strictly speaking not a science at all, it's a branch of philosophy, like ethics. At least this is true of the 'western' Terran tradition. Someone who engages is metaphysics is a metaphysician - I have never heard the term 'metaphysicist' used in English before. I agree their work is different to a physicist's but it's also very different to a physcician's :). The English language term 'metaphysician' shouldn't (properly) conjure up the idea of someone who does scientific experiments, although people (like the Beatles) commonly get that wrong due to the confusing history of the English-language term ('physics' was originally in Aristotle's day something that philosophers did rather than scientists, or more accurately there was no real categorical distinction between 'science' and 'philosophy' as we now understand them in the Western tradition). Of course, it's quite possible that the Klingon term *does* describe someone whose work can be appropriately categorised with our term, 'science' - maybe it's very advanced! But maybe it's also true that {QeD} can mean something broader than the narrow definition of the English term 'science' - 'study' or 'knowledge' or something like that. I am a humble beginner and I am sure others know more than me about this. As for mu'mey chu' - has anyone considered that {rejghun} could resemble the Australian rhyming slang term - 'Reg Grundies' - to mean 'undies'? How to enlarge a picture without degrading its' quality

fse: Often you have a picture, which has a small resolution, and you want to enlarge it. But usually, enlarging it, will cause it to lose the quality it had. Luckily there is a solution. In mac osx, open affinity photo app, then open the picture. Select "document", then from the drop down menu, select "resize document". Then input the desired size, and at the "resample" select "lanczos 3 (non-separable)". And leave the resample box checked as is. I can't think any reason it's wrong, but there is something strange in seeing the {ponglu'} having the {lu-} prefix. Perhaps it's because I rarely see "someone will call them".
