At another thread, I wrote the sentence: {tlhIngan mu'tlheghvam tIqbe' law' DIvI' Hol 'elaDya' Hol qoj mu'tlhegh tIqbe' puS} With the intented meaning "this klingon sentence isn't longer than the greek and/or english sentence". I would like to ask whether the {tIqbe'} is an acceptable verb to be placed in the slot of the law' puS construction. Can we use there a verb carrying suffixes ? ~ nI'ghma

Klingon spoken in upcoming film ”Please Stand By”

About a year or so ago, somebody mentioned something about Klingon being used in an upcoming movie featuring Alice Eve. We haven’t heard much about it since then, but it appears that the film in question is ”Please Stand By”. The trailer features some Klingon being spoken by Dakota Fanning (the main actress) and Patton Oswalt; it’s just a couple of sentences, but they’re correct: http://ew.com/movies/2017/12/04/please-stand-by-trailer-dakota-fanning/ If I recall correctly, they did get somebody to vet the Klingon lines in the script, so if there is any more, we can expect it to be accurate, too. //loghaD

The above quote, unless I'm mistaken, can be attributed to the late Truman Capote. However, it sounds extremely Klingon, and I figured I'd try and translate it. At the moment, I have this: lujlu'DI' Qapla' 'eymoH wanI', ghevI' rur. I thought about including something like {'ej SIbIHa' Qaplu'DI'} before the noun {Qapla'}, but it felt like the resulting phrase would be too long, and the meaning should be clear without the additional words. What do you all think? - SapIr

Interrogation words and type 5 noun suffixes

Hello all! Today I was wondering if you could combine interrogation words such as nuq and 'Iv with type 5 noun suffixes, in particular -vaD and -mo' The TKD says; > For {'Iv} <who?> and {nuq} <what?> the question word fits into the > sentence in the position that would be occupied by the answer. So, if the thing we want to ask is {what for; because of what; to whom; because of whom}, could we simply use {nuqvaD; nuqmo'; 'IvvaD; 'Ivmo'}? For example: nuqvaD lI' De'vam? = what is this information useful for? 'IvvaD taj nobpu' qama' ?= to whom did the prisoner give the knife? nuqmo' jachtaH ghaH? = because of what is he shouting? 'Ivmo' tIwtaH ghaH? = because of whom is he acting emotionally? I know some of the above could be rephrased easily in a "safer" grammatical way but I'm really interested in whether these alternative constructs would be grammatical and acceptable.
