Here are the puns I've been able to crack so far from this year's qepHom: 'Ilyaw' (epitome, or the very best of something): Wile E. Coyote uses products from Acme. The word "acme" means something of the highest quality one can get. la'qab (whistling sound): Lauren Bacall famously taught Humphrey Bogart how to whistle. mu'vIb whistle (with shrill sound): "Word from the future" -- that'd be a word of (fore)warning. The explantion for *mu'vIb* did say it's the kind of whistle used for warnings. ruv nay' (dessert): This misunderstanding is obviously from the phrase "just deserts". Ha, ha, ha. reDlIgh (fluorine): *reDligh* backwards = guilder = florin = fluorine. majQa'! re'Hom'at (scarf (on neck)): Something to do with "achieve-maker-er" = neckerchief? rID'oH (barley): A rearrangement of the sounds in HORDE-, from Hordeum, the Latin name for barley. yuvwan (community [a not organized group of people with same interest]): Sounds like "you've won", but I', not sure of what the allusion is.

Maltz clarified the word {jegh} v. surrender, give up: This verb does not take an object. Its meaning is more along the lines of "capitulate, acquiesce, cave (in), back down, throw in the towel." For "surrender" in the sense of "relinquish, give away, let go of," use {Dergh} (which does take an object). sea vs ocean vs lake

The question was what is the difference between a lake and an ocean? How would one translate "sea"? Maltz said: sea is {bIQ'a'}. — A lake (ngeng) is completely surrounded by land. An ocean (bIQ'a') is a large expanse of water which may be connected to one or more other bIQ'a'mey, including smaller ones often called "seas" in English. Maltz about HaSta

Maltz clarified the word {HaSta}: {HaSta} actually means "video," that is, moving (well, usually moving) visual images. When used by itself on a ship, as part of ship's jargon, however, it refers to the "visual display" mode of a {jIH} (viewing screen). {HaSta jIH} (television) is "video viewing screen," that is, a viewing screen that displays video. (Although {HaSta jIH} literally means the television's screen alone, it is used to refer to the entire device.) {HaSta jIH much} ("television show"), frequently shortened to {HaSta much}, is based on {HaSta jIH} (not on {HaSta} alone) and refers to what is presented on the television screen (the content, not just the images). Clarification: Can a switch be right?

Several weeks ago, there was a discussion about the words {lugh} and {muj}, which are defined as "be right" and "be wrong". The question was if you can say "That's the right/wrong switch to turn on the light". To keep it short, the answer is NO. {lugh/muj} are only used to say that a person is doing something correctly.
