How to say *Doctor Who*, *do*, restrictiveness of adjectives and some other short questions

Aspect again: Are *vIghajpu'be'* and *vIlaDtaH* in this context correct? If I didn't want to present the action of reading as continuous, could I also have used *vIlaDpu'*? 3. I want *tetlhvam QInmey Daj* to have a non-restrictive meaning, i.e. all messages are interesting and I've read them all. For a restrictive meaning I would have used a relative clause. Is this how it works in Klingon? 4. Can *ghel* take an object, for example: *'op Dochmey vIghel vIneH*? 5. *'op Daq* = *some place*, *'op Daqmey* = *some places*, right? 6. I always forget to ask about it: How do you actually say in Klingon *do* in the sense of *What do you do at weekend* (asking for plans) or *Today I haven't do anything* (just relaxed)? 7. Just out of curiosity: How would you say in Klingon *Doctor Who*? If we suppose that *Qel* could be something like a title and titles come in Klingon after the name, then we could say something like *'Iv Qel*. But then I realised that's an English thing, I mean, using *who* when asking for someone's name if you only know the title or a part of the whole name. In Spanish we use *who* (*quién*) when asking for people, but we use *what* (*qué*) when asking for the name in those situations (*¿El Doctor qué?*). So I just wanted to know if we have some information about who Klingons do that. Thank you!

I just read in Merriam-Webster that the English "so" can be either an adverb or a conjunction. https://www.merriam-webster.com/dictionary/so And there it lists the following examples which show how "so" acts as an adverb: - do you really think so - are you ready? I think so - I didn't like it and I told her so - worked hard and so did she - and so home and to bed - had never been so happy - thought that his share wasn't so big as his brother's - loves her so - can only do so much in a day - you did so do it - I so don't believe you - the witness is biased and so unreliable But now lets see the examples it lists where "so" acts a conjunction: - the acoustics are good, so every note is clear - be quiet so he can sleep - don't want to go, so I won't - so here we are - so what? - so, that's who did it The thing I observe is that the examples of Merriam-Webster where the English "so" functions as a conjunction, are the examples which if I was to translate in Klingon I'd use the {vaj}; but the {vaj} in Klingon is supposed to be an adverb and not a conjunction. On the other hand, I don't think any of the Merriam-Webster examples where "so" acts as an adverb could be translated by the Klingon adverb {vaj}. So, either there's something here which I'm serious misunderstanding, or this is the case of another intentional attempt, to "alienize" a language crawling with terran puns. origin of the name "Saq'sub"

Lieven asked me about this off-list, and in the interest of sharing Klingon-language trivia, I'll copy my answer here. <It was made up for the opera 'u'. The writers needed a name for Kahless' native region and didn't have one, so they made up a word that means "hero's land" ({Sub} "n. hero", {Saq} "v. land"), and put the words together in the manner of {paq'batlh} "book of honor" and so on. I don't know why they used {Saq} the verb and not {puH} the noun. Either they made a mistake or they just liked the sound or look of "Saq'sub" over "puH'sub" or whatever it would've been. Since it was used in the opera, we didn't change it. It's a proper name anyway and isn't given a meaning in-universe.> Of course, Star Trek writers may later contradict this, but as the latest Star Trek shows have Klingon-language consultants, I hope that if the writers are looking for the place of Kahless' origin, they would be informed that a name for the place already exists in Okrandian canon and use it. (It's part of Okrand's canon because he blessed it or retroactively approved it or whatever, but it's not yet in Star Trek canon because the name hasn't appeared in any show.) -- De'vID
