I remember also speaking with taD about his consistent use of HISlaH, who (don't quote me) seemed to explain that he chose to do so simply so that *someone* out there was using it. HIja' is my usual affirmative response. I'll say the longer HISlaH when there is any chance of ambiguity with "tell me" and when I want for some reason to prolong the word: emphatically, hesitantly, languidly, whatever.
While reading through the thread, I starting thinking about how I would word my thoughts. Qov's response expresses exactly how it works with me.
