If we want to say "each drum of metal" what do write ? {Hoch baS 'In} or {baS Hoch 'In} ? If we want to say "each group of sentences" what do write ? {Hoch mu'tlheghmey ghom} or {mu'tlheghmey Hoch ghom} ? ~ nI'ghma
I guess the fact that noone replied, probably means, that there is no definite answer to these questions.. ~ nI'ghma On Nov 30, 2017 17:01, "mayqel qunenoS" <mihkoun@gmail.com> wrote:

I tried to reply, but the message didn't go through. This is basically the same question you keep asking, regarding what in English is about adjective scope and ordering. My English-trained ear insists upon {Hoch baS 'In}, but I can't prove that that's correct in Klingon. -- SuStel http://trimboli.name

If noone answers doesnot mean there is no answer. Am 01.12.2017 um 14:48 schrieb SuStel:

I agree. I see the {baS 'In} as one word. If you would say it as a compound noun, the problem would not exist anymore: {Hoch baS'In} But unless we have canon prrof, we can never be sure. But it doesn't seem to contradict any rules, so just do it. -- Lieven L. Litaer aka the "Klingon Teacher from Germany" http://www.klingonisch.net http://www.klingonwiki.net/En/StarTrekDiscovery
I found four examples of {Hoch} modifying a noun + noun phrase: Hoch tlhIngan DujDaq So'wI' jomlu' All Klingon vessels are equipped with a cloaking device (S33) QaptaHvIS So'wI', Hoch jagh Dujmey DaQotlh. Disable all enemy ships while cloaked. (MKE) Hoch tuq, Hoch puq poH All tribes, all ages (PB) Hoch Holmey mughwI' vIwIv 'e' DapIH'a' Did you expect me to choose the Universal Translator?
