Klingon in an old issue of Previews
I was going through some old issues of Previews, a catalog of comic books, etc, that Diamond Comic Distributors puts out every month so people can see what they want to order from their local comic book shops. In the November 2015 issue, page 139, was IDW Comics' "IDW January Checklist", and to the left was a column featuring a cartoon/ caricature of D'irk W'ood, "Lt. of Marketing", with the following word bubbles (note: written in comic book style all caps, despite case being important to Klingon): [1] DIS CHU' DATIVJAJ HOCH! 'E' LATLH TIN WA' IDW 'E' LAY'! QASTAH LOT CHONAYTA' 'EJ JANUARY NEH 'OH.... [2] WA'DICH PAQDI'NORGH LUCHENMOHMEH HOCH, DIS 50TH ANNIVERSARY HOV TREK! VAJ NEJ LOT QAS LATER DIS. 'ACH WA'DICH, HA' VIGHEL PUS JANUARY PAQ. STARTING GHAH. !? JEM HURGH ** TRANSLATED FROM KLINGON: HAPPY NEW YEAR, EVERYONE! THIS PROMISES TO BE ANOTHER BIG ONE FOR IDW! A LOT IS HAPPENING ALREADY, AND THIS IS ONLY JANUARY. FIRST OF ALL, THIS YEAR IS THE 50TH ANNIVERSARY OF STAR TREK! SO, LOOK FOR A LOT HAPPENING ALL YEAR LONG! BUT FIRST, LET'S TALK ABOUT A FEW OF OUR JANUARY BOOKS. STARING WITH... DARK JEM!? Clearly, they weren't trying very hard at all, like how they didn't notice that "LOT" didn't translate and just came straight through, heck even "TREK" didn't translate? Still, presented here for completeness' sake. -- //*==================================================================++ || Russ Perry Jr 2175 S Tonne Dr #114 Arlington Heights IL 60005 || || 847-952-9729 VIDEOGAME COLLECTOR! russperryjr@sbcglobal.net || ++==================================================================*//

It's a shame they did not ask those people who translated their book. This looks very much like a Bing translation, which always gives {Hov trek} as a result. Also, a phrase like {vaj nej lot qaS later DIS} is obvious.

Thanks a lot for sharing. It's that kind of completeness sake which the Klingon Language Wiki is seeking for, where I will add this quote as soon as possible. -- Lieven L. Litaer aka the "Klingon Teacher from Germany" http://www.klingonisch.de http://www.klingonwiki.net/En/BloodWillTell
