There’s no right answer; use whichever best expresses your meaning. -- SuStel http://trimboli.name From: mayqel qunenoS Sent: Thursday, November 24, 2016 3:03 PM To: tlhIngan Hol mailing list Subject: Re: [tlhIngan Hol] Can I use {Hur} on its own ? andre muller:
"I went outside." What verb would you use I would say {HurDaq vIjaH} or {Hur vIjaH}. I would use the {jaH}, because I think it expresses better the "I went". The way I understand the {ghoS} it expresses the "I approached/followed/went away from" depending on the presence of the suffixes {-Daq} and {-vo'}. qunnoH ghoghwIj HablI'vo' vIngeHta'

Or perhaps {mej}? Or maybe even {'el} (there are some natural languages, such as Tsez, where you can "enter the outside", and I like that expression). Of course, I could be more precise and say {juHvo' jImejpu'}, but which verb would you use with {Hur}? Would you guys accept {Hur vI'elpu'}? - André 2016-11-24 19:52 GMT+01:00 SuStel <sustel@trimboli.name>: On 11/24/2016 1:38 PM, mayqel qunenoS wrote: At another thread I wrote: {toH, juHwIjDaq vIjaHmeH yaHwIj HurDaq vIjaH net poQ} Would it be acceptable if I wrote: {toH, juHwIjDaq vIjaHmeH HurDaq vIjaH net poQ} So, the question is: Can words as {Hur}, {bIng}, {Dung} etc, be used on their own, or is it necessary for them to refer to another noun, a noun that will precede them ? Sure, you can use them on their own. Just remember that their concepts are relative to something else, so some context is usually needed. You provide that in your example sentence because you're talking about being at your duty station before you talk about going outside. Outside what? Your duty station is obviously indoors, so you go out. Not a problem. -- SuStel http://trimboli.name _______________________________________________ tlhIngan-Hol mailing list tlhIngan-Hol@lists.kli.org http://lists.kli.org/listinfo.cgi/tlhingan-hol-kli.org _______________________________________________ tlhIngan-Hol mailing list tlhIngan-Hol@lists.kli.org http://lists.kli.org/listinfo.cgi/tlhingan-hol-kli.org
