Klingon word: Dap bom Part of speech: noun Definition: nonsense song Source: KGT _______________________________________________ AFAIK not used in a sentence. (KGT 77f.): Among the songs sung exclusively to or by children is ... the {Dap bom} (literally, "nonsense song"), which teaches and reinforces Klingon musical patterns, even though the words themselves are, for the most part, meaningless. (KGT 12f.): Finally, there are some old but still popular songs that retain old words and old grammatical forms that are not interpretable in modern Klingon. In fact, it is not uncommon for Klingon children to think some of these songs are nonsense songs, filled with silly words, and then be surprised to find out that they are ancient hunting songs or battle songs. (KGT 78): A {may' bom} (battle song), {chon bom} (hunting song), or just about any other kind of song may serve as a {HIvje' bom}, but there are special songs heard almost exclusively as accompaniments to drinking. -- Voragh Ca'Non Master of the Klingons
My favorite Dap bom is the popular martial arts song for kids {ro’ ro’ ro’ yIbot}. You do it during exercises. “Block the fist, the fist, the fist." pItlh charghwI’ ‘utlh (ghaH, ghaH, -Daj)

That reminds me of something KCD executive producer Keith Halper wrote in “Star Trek: Klingon!” (i.e., the KCD novelization), p. 212: "[Okrand's] literal translation is always skewed a bit, so if you send him ‘Row, row, row your boat’, you'll get back ‘Propel, propel, propel your craft’." Note that propel is {vo'}. But I like yours better.
