The need (not) to express "once more".
I was thinking of darth Sidious' phrase: "once more the Sith will rule the galaxy", and I was wondering, how to say it in Klingon. At first, I thought of saying something like {wa'logh, qIb luche'qa' sithpu'}, but the way I understand it, this means "one time, the sith will rule again the galaxy", i.e. they will rule it again but only one time (whatever this actually means). Until I realized, that the original meaning of the phrase, is expressed just fine by just writing {qIb luche'qa' sithpu'}; and that's it. Do you agree with the above, or does anyone have any other/better suggestions ? ~ m. qunen'oS I find missing lunch disturbing

ok, I re-thought this.. "Once more the Sith will rule the galaxy", and especially the "once more", means that "they have ruled and that they will rule again". So, the best way to say it would be {pa'logh, qIb luche'pu' sithpu', 'ej tuch, luche'qa'}. maj.. DaH qa'vInwIj vIvutlaH.. As always, disagreements/arguments/photon torpedoes/or disruptor fire are welcomed.. ~ m. qunen'oS may we live the day when dogs become extinct

Quoth TKD: ** *-qa’* /resume / Using this suffix implies that an action had been taking place, then it stopped, and then it began again. *qIb luche'qa' Sith.* -- SuStel http://trimboli.name
I agree with SuStel, { qIb luche'qa' Sith} is perfect. I think mayqel is fixated on the “once” in “once more” which doesn’t mean that something happened one and only one time, just that it happened before and now it’s happening again. “Once again we have a Republican president” – i.e. Republicans and Democrats regularly replace each other in office and now it’s the Republicans’ turn. Yes, you're right ! I had been so focused on the "once" of the "once more", that I was trying desperately to find a way to express it. Anyways, now that the coffee kicked-in (I love this verb), I realized that the {pa'logh, qIb luche'pu' sithpu', 'ej tuch, luche'qa'} offers nothing more compared to the {qIb luche'qa' sithpu'}, so everything is right as rain (as americans say). ~ m. qunen'oS it's a pity greek doesn't have the verb "to kick-in"
mayqel may also have been thinking of "once before" which does (usually) imply something happening just one time previous. And people complain about imprecision and ambiguity in Klingon! <g> Voragh ---------------Original Message--------------- From: mayqel qunen'oS Ca'NoN master:
