Klingon Word of the Day: vey'
Klingon Word of the Day for Monday, September 25, 2017 Klingon word: vey' Part of speech: verb Definition: be comfortable, be plentiful Source: qep'a' 24 This Klingon Word of the Day is brought to you by qurgh (qurgh@kli.org).
Klingon word: vey' Part of speech: verb Definition: be comfortable, be plentiful Source: qep'a' 24 [2017] _______________________________________________ (nIqolay Q, 9/01/2017): If you want to convey the idea of "more than some amount" in a positive way, or at least a value-neutral way, you could try the new word {vey'}. It was glossed as "be comfortable" at the {qep'a'}, in the sense of "a comfortable income", but the core idea is "be more than enough, be more than is just sufficient". (The notes say it's similar to {yap}, which suggests it refers to the thing that one has a comfortable amount of, rather than, e.g., the person who has the comfortable life.) SEE ALSO: yap be enough, be sufficient puS be few 'Iq be too many, too much" law' be many Hutlh lack chuv be left over --Voragh
I notice that the quote comes from nIqolay Q. What makes this quote so important, that it appears on the comments of the word of the day ? I mean no disrespect to nIqolay Q, but since I usually add comments from the word of the day to my notes, I wonder what makes this specific note so important. mayqel On Sep 25, 2017 18:09, "Steven Boozer" <sboozer@uchicago.edu> wrote:

My guess is that it summed up all the relevant info from the qep'a' notes while also being easier to copy and paste from. (*'ej chaq voraghvaD cha'maH Dollarmey vInobpu'.*)
Are these words a direct quote from 'oqranD ? mayqel On Sep 25, 2017 19:13, "nIqolay Q" <niqolay0@gmail.com> wrote:

More or less. The actual quote is on the bottom of the fourth image here (titled "Comfortable/Uncomfortable"): https://www.kli.org/activities/qepmey/qepa-chamah-losdich/qepa-chamah-losdic... I wasn't there, I was just extrapolating based on what I read in the qep'a' notes.
nIqolay Q is right. The link to the qep’a’ 24 new words takes you to an image file, not a text file, and I’m not able to copy-and-paste from the image file. Instead I have to keyboard everything manually -- which is good for learning but bad for quickly updating files. Does anyone know of a searchable text file online for this material? -- Voargh On Mon, Sep 25, 2017 at 12:15 PM, mayqel qunenoS <mihkoun@gmail.com<mailto:mihkoun@gmail.com>> wrote: Are these words a direct quote from 'oqranD ? Voragh: Short answer: Because I thought it was relevant. And because it was all I had in my notes. Long answer: Because nIqolay Q already posted it to the list and I was thus able to copy-and-paste it into my notes and, from there, to the Word of the Day. I don’t know whether he was at the qep’a’ or if he merely restated some of the extensive material distributed there. I haven’t had time to add all of this material to my notes; there were several pages as I recall. Which is of course good for learners, but bad for overwhelmed lexicographers trying to keep up with the flood of new material. Not that I’m complaining. {{{;-) From: nIqolay Q My guess is that it summed up all the relevant info from the qep'a' notes while also being easier to copy and paste from. […] More or less.
