how to express "look forward to"
I was trying to express something along the lines of, "Now that Discovery is off the air, I don't have a show to look forward to today." My first thought was something along the lines of: {DaH rInpu'mo' DISqa'vI'rIy, Dach much vI[X]bogh}, where X = "anticipate, look forward to", but we don't seem to have such a verb. {pIH} isn't quite right, I think. It works for a positive sense of anticipating or looking forward to something that will happen ({Such meb 'e' vIpIH}), but not in the negative sense of something which is missed ({Suchbe' meb 'e' vIpIH}). Of course, I could just say something like {rInpu'mo' jI'IQ} but that's not expressing the nuance of anticipation. Suggestions? -- De'vID

My first thought is just to use {loS} for that. I’m pretty sure I’ve used it in the past for things like {much veb vIloSqu'}.

But I don’t think the missing verb you’re looking for would need to work in that negative sense anyway. In your example sentence {Dach much vI[X]bogh} [X] is only talking about your positive anticipation. Neither {pIH} nor {loS} (maybe with a {-qu'} to express the degree of your anricipation) seem particularly ill-fitted to fit that [X] slot.

I was thinking about this too, but the definition does not really include anything negative: "face, have the prospect of having to deal with". Well, maybe the note "having to" seems like it's a bit negative; but on the other hand what maybe negative for us can be fun for a Klingon. I doubt there is a word for "look forward to", as there are many other ways to express that idea. But that's just theory. -- Lieven L.
