Surely they're related. To merely contain an enemy (as opposed to eliminating them or getting them to surrender) is a temporary solution to a problem, just like a bandage. -- De'vID
Agreed, although we’re told that Sev is a “militaristic act”: (KGT 48): Common militaristic acts also have associated terminology, both verbs (DoHmoH, drive back; Hub, defend; yot, invade; weH, raid [same as yot, really, but with the added connotation of surprise or speed]; HIv, attack, assault; Sev, contain; HeD, retreat, withdraw) and nouns (yot, invasion, raid, incursion; Hub, defense). For contain (have inside) there is ngaS. See also Dech surround, qat wrap, encase and wegh confine.
