thank you voragh for these canon examples. however I need to comment on this one:
wIqIpmeH Qatlh'a' Difficult to hit? (ST5 Notes)]
In order to demonstrate my point, lets examine this sentence by removing the {-'a'}. The way I understand the english "difficult to hit", it means that a target "is difficult (for everyone) to hit". It possesses the attribute of "being difficult". But the klingon {wIqIpmeH Qatlh}, gives me the impression that it means "it is difficult, (in order to for us) to hit it". "It is difficult, in order TO ENABLE us to hit it". I don't know if I manage to express adequately my problem here, but the klingon sentence just rubs me the wrong way.. For me it is equivalent with saying {qaghommeH jIpaS} "I was late to meet you", which actually means "in order to meet you I was late", or "being late was a prerequisite for my meeting you". qunnoH jan puqloD On Mon, Nov 14, 2016 at 5:03 PM, Steven Boozer <sboozer@uchicago.edu> wrote:

The main viewer on a Klingon ship is usually
overlaid with a complex target acquisition grid. SP3
(KGT 179): For example, among Klingons, a task that is difficult ({Qatlh}) is more highly valued than one that is easy ({ngeD}).
(KGT 159): the verb suffix {-qu'}, which is used for emphasis (compare {Qatlh}, “difficult”, and {Qatlhqu'}, “very difficult”).
Examples of Okrand’s use of “complex” in KGT:
(TKD 59): As in any language, Klingon sentences range from the very simple and straightforward to the very complex and convoluted.
(KGT 75): Wind instruments… range from the simple flute or fife ({Dov'agh}), generally crafted from a bone, to the highly complex {meSchuS}. This is a very large instrument, not at all easily moved from place to place, which consists of a network of interlocking tubes.

the word {Qatlh} means:
a. "to be difficult", as in "it is difficult to see you in pain". b. "to be difficult", as in "this mathematical problem is very difficult". c. "to be complicated", as in "the situation that we're facing is quite complicated". d. "to be complicated", as in "this system's backup method is quite complicated".
or all of the above ?
