CVC' + CVC
naw' + wat
To avoid confusion, it is perhaps best to specify that it is CVw' + CVC; CVC' does not appear to be "permitted" in general. Permitted syllables appear to be: CV - i.e. bo, Da, ghu CVC (with the exception of Cow and Cuw) - i.e. boS, batlh, ghum (but not Qow or chuw) CVw' (presumably with the exception of Cow' and Cuw') - i.e. waw', naw', Daw' - interestingly, Cew' and CIw' have never been used, although there is no "rule" barring their existence CVy' - i.e. 'ay', bey', qoy' CVrgh - i.e. Dargh, morgh, lurgh C = consonant V = vowel Exceptions might appear in transcriptions ofalien names (such as pIqarD and jemS tIy qIrq) and in no' Hol (such as paq'batlh). ________________________________ From: tlhIngan-Hol <tlhingan-hol-bounces@lists.kli.org> on behalf of André Müller <esperantist@gmail.com> Sent: Wednesday, July 19, 2017 17:12 To: tlhingan-hol@kli.org Subject: Re: [tlhIngan Hol] Klingon Word of the Day: naw'wat CVC' + CVC naw' + wat This syllable structure isn't uncommon.
