(KGT 142):  The syllable {ya'} seems to be used as if it were a suffix meaning "place name". Thus [...] Cardassia is both {qarDaS} and {qarDaSya'}.

Note that {qarDaS wa'} "Cardassia Prime" is the Cardassian homeworld (MKE).


*{Qa'} seems to be a bound morpheme forming names of political unions.  E.g.
