Klingon word: pIraqSIS Part of speech: noun Definition: Praxis Source: _______________________________________________ pIraqSIS HoS waw' ghajlu'chugh, loSlogh boq'egh mI' naghmey mI'; chen qav'ap If Praxis Energy Facility is owned, rent is 4 times amount shown on dice. (Klingon Monopoly) pIraQSIS maS bIngDaq pIgh rur SaqSub chIm choSlu'pu'bogh The Saq'sub lay empty and desolate under the Praxis moon. (PB 1st ed.) N.B. {pIraqSIS} - with the lower case q - seems to be the preferred spelling: (De'vID, 8/08/2018): In paq'batlh, Praxis (the Klingon moon) was written as {pIraQSIS} on p. 118-119 in the original printing (which I have). It has been consistently translated as {pIraqSIS} elsewhere. I've been told the spelling in the paq'batlh was a typo which may have been corrected in later printings. (Jeremy [David Holt] < MO, 1/09/2019 on the difference between {Qugh} vs. {lot}): They're basically the same and mostly interchangeable. If you're referring to something that in all likelihood you can't recover from (like the loss of Praxis), the better word is lot, but most of the time it doesn't matter. CULTURAL NOTES: (PB 2nd ed., p.122 note): Praxis (pIraqSIS) was a Klingon moon, which was exploited as one of the Empire's main energy production facilities. It exploded in 2293 owing to over-mining and insufficient safety measures Praxis is described as "*a* Klingon moon"; its destruction is near enough to the Homeworld to precipitate the eventual decay of Kronos' ozone layer. The novel "Sarek" and the CD game "Klingon Honor Guard" place Praxis (or its remnants) in orbit around Qo'noS. It's unknown whether Qo'noS has any other moons, although the ST6 reference implies the existence of at least one other. (QeS, 3/05/2013): Though non-canonical in terms of the broader Trek universe, one or more of the licensed Star Trek RPGs (various sources claim the FASA, Decipher, and/or GURPS publications, none of which I've been able to locate) apparently state that Qo'noS has two moons, the second being named Corvix.
