If we write {mapIm maH chaH je} for "we are different we and them". Is this grammatically correct, or is does it violate the accord rule, which as I understand it says "the subject must agree with the prefix of the verb" ? qunnoq

Actually, it's "the prefix must agree with the subject and object of the verb." You set the prefix according to the subject and object, not the other way around. *maH chaH je* is probably a kind of *maH,* so I would expect your sentence to be correct. -- SuStel http://trimboli.name

Could you write an example of a sentence, which violates the accord rule ? qunnoq On Aug 26, 2017 14:54, "SuStel" <sustel@trimboli.name> wrote:

Any sentence with the wrong verb prefix. For instance, *lujpu' jIH.* It needs a *jI-.* -- SuStel http://trimboli.name
If instead of {mapIm maH chaH je} for "we are different we and them", I wrote {pIm chaH maH je} for "they are different they and we", would you accept this too as being correct ? qunnoq On Aug 26, 2017 17:22, "SuStel" <sustel@trimboli.name> wrote:

No. I think *maH chaH je* is a kind of *maH,* not a kind of *chaH.* It occurs to me that this is exactly the sort of problem that Klingon lets us avoid: *mapIm maH; pIm je chaH.* This is probably the "most correct" way to say this. -- SuStel http://trimboli.name
