After translating the Revelation excerpt I posted yesterday, I decided to create a thread where I will be translating the gospel of Matthew. But before I start, I would like to make some notes with regards to the work at hand. 1. The text I will be translating from, will be the the original Greek Orthodox. I thought of translating from an English version of the Bible, but I believe it would be ridiculous to translate an English translation of the original Greek text, while being able to understand the original Greek. 2. Although I'm quite certain noone will bother to read this translation, I will provide anyway each time the English text too. 3. The English text will be from the English Orthodox translation; the reasons I choose the Orthodox text are beyond the scope of this list, but if someone is curious he can start another thread and I will discuss them there in Klingon. 4. The various names will be written exactly as they are being written in the English Orthodox translation. I will not transliterate. 5. The reason why I choose this translation, is because as we all know the rule here is "in english about Klingon or in Klingon about anything". This is my "anything". 6. The reason why I'll be posting here the translation, is rather simple. When I'm writing here in Klingon I tend to be way more careful, than when writing something which only I will see. 7, Perhaps someone is thinking "it's difficult, you won't succeed". I don't think it is difficult, but anyway, we'll see.. ~ nI'ghma

Before you start, here some other notes: 1. This is a great initiative that should be coordiated with the RTTP. 2. There are some parts of the bible translated already, I just don' know where. -- Lieven L. Many years ago -- possibly pre-KGT even? -- the KLI had a "Klingon Bible Translation Project" (KBTP). I have no idea which books were done nor where it is archived (assuming anything has survived online). If you can find it this could be a good starting point, though it would have to be considerably updated with all the new vocabulary, examples and grammar we've received in the past few years. What's the RTTP? Hmm... based on the KBTP could this be a "Religious Texts Translation Project"? --Voragh -----Original Message----- From: Lieven L. I took over as coordinator for the Klingon Bible Translation Project back in 2015. (I have rebranded it as the Religious Text Translation Project to encourage folks to translate texts besides just the bible. Every so often people mention translating the Qur'an, but I haven't actually seen any drafts.) Not much of The Bible has actually been translated. The book of Mark is by far the biggest chunk of text. I would love to see Mathew completed. Translating from Greek is totally encouraged. Mark was also translated from Greek. I highly encourage posting of drafts and completed texts here to this list. I also encourage completed drafts to be included on the Wiki for posteritiy https://www.kli.org/wiki/Religious_Text_Translation_Project ~naHQun RTTP Coordinator
I didn't know these facts, however I would like to do the translation alone. The New Testament that I would like to see translated is the Orthodox one, let alone the fact that I need to practice. ~ nI'ghma
Some (most?) of the RTTP info is here: https://www.kli.org/wiki/Religious_Text_Translation_Project qurgh On Thu, May 3, 2018 at 1:35 PM, Lieven L. Litaer <levinius@gmx.de> wrote:
