Klingon Word of the Day for Saturday, September 22, 2018 Klingon word: ghay'cha' Part of speech: excl Definition: (curse) general invective Source: TKD:p178 _______________________________________________ (Mark Shoulson, HQ 3.1): A weaker, less intense, possibly polite form of {ghuy'cha'} ghuy'cha' *guy'cha* (expletive) (CK): Here's another word with strong force. A Klingon might say it after receiving an unsettling communique. It's a LOT stronger than the Terran "Darn it!" (Mark Shoulson, HQ 3.1): Shows anger when things start going wrong; it's a stronger, more intense form of {ghay'cha'} TREK TRIVIA: When Picard failed to convince Klingon Governor Vagh that the Federation wasn't supplying weapons to Kriosian rebels, Vagh shouted: "You speak the lies of a *tah-keck*!" Picard calmly leaned forward and replied, "*Qu'vatlh guy'cha b'aka!*" Vagh complimented him, saying: "You swear well, Picard. You must have Klingon blood in your veins." It should be noted that Mark Shoulson's comments are merely his own personal suggestions, and should not be taken as canon — a point he himself makes in the article. -- SuStel http://trimboli.name

One might easily conclude that Mark Shoulson, writing in HolQeD, was reporting Marc Okrand's words. People have recently been calling HolQeD a "canonical source," meaning Marc Okrand has used it as a vehicle for revealing details of the language. Mark Shoulson also invented the word *'I' *this way, you'll remember... -- SuStel http://trimboli.name

And in fact, I invented the world HolQeD this way myself. :D
