As a funny coincidence, I had a chance to talk with Marc Okrand just Friday, on the day before this KWOTD was posted. We talked about this specific word because I needed it for a translation I was working on, and we noted that the definition was never published as such. Marc Okrand has confirmed that this is correct to say {Qej} in a phrase like "we value it" and so on, so "cherish, value" is the correct definition. -- Lieven L. You talked about *Qej* and not the *vabDot* that came two words before it?!? ;) -- SuStel http://trimboli.name

haha - yes, indeed, it came to my mind some time later I could have asked that too. At the point of my asking, I just talked about {Qej}, without even thinking about the phrase it came from. I'll put it on the wishlist for the qepHom. -- Lieven L. Litaer aka Quvar valer 'utlh

Would it be possible to also include *ngIq* on the wishlist? There are a few more examples of *ngIq* than there are for *vabDot* so the meaning can be analyzed a little more, but it'd still be nice to finally have clarification. (I believe *ghay* is the only other word that's been used in a sentence but never glossed.)
Another good idea for the qepHom wishlist, is the verb prefix with regards to a preceding {joq}. And the variant where one of the two nouns before the {joq} is plural. qunnoq On Sep 18, 2017 8:13 PM, "nIqolay Q" <niqolay0@gmail.com> wrote:

What exactly is the question? I have no problem with {ngIq}, but I haven't followed the recent thread about it either. Lieven.

What exactly is the question?
I have no problem with {ngIq}, but I haven't followed the recent thread about it either.
What precisely it means and how it's used. For instance, how to tell/express the difference between using it to mean "one single X" (as in *ngIq tonSaw' lo' 'ej tIqDu' lel* "In one single move, he removed the hearts") vs. "each X individually one by one" (as in *ngIq nuv luHoH* "they killed the warriors one by one"), or if there even is a difference at all between those meanings. Also, what other concepts can it be used to express, what other contexts it can be used in, does it mean anything if it's on its own and not part of a noun-noun phrase, etc. Like I said, it's had a lot more canon examples than *vabDot*, and I suspect that the usage analysis that various Klingonists have done based on that canon is going to be mostly correct. But it would still be nice to know more specifically (and canonically) from the source, rather than trying to backsolve its meaning from a few sentences.
