I was wondering how to say "In order to buy this ancient cat, you need at least a thousand euros", needing to express the "at least". The only way I can think of, is saying something like: {vIghro'vam tIQ Daje'meH, rav DIlmeH Huch DanobnIS. wa'SaD euro 'oH DIlmeH Huchvam'e'} "This ancient cat in order to buy, you need to give a price of minimum. this price is a thousand euros" Can someone think of something better ? ~ channgan qIj
What about usong {Qutlh} or {Qutlhqu'} or {tlhoy Qutlh} ? So using something like "This ancient cat is very cheap if you pay it 1000 euros" tIQbogh vIghro'vam Qutlhqu', wa'SaD euro DaDIlchugh. On Thu, Feb 28, 2019 at 12:47 PM mayqel qunen'oS <mihkoun@gmail.com> wrote:

Apologies for being thick, but I don’t understand what {latlh} is doing in the sentence {wa'SaD euro latlh joq DapoQ.} “You require one thousand Euros and/or another one”? vIghro’vam tIQ wagh law’ wa’SaD [euro]mey wagh puS. vIghro’vam tIQ DaneHchugh vaj wa’SaD [euro] vIpoQ. bImImchugh, ghur DIlmeH Huch. wa’SaD [euro] chonobchugh, chaq vIghro’vam tIQ qanob. Yeah, why would this ancient cat be "at least" 1000 euros? Why would someone say, "oh, I'll pay 1200 euros then!" Perhaps if they were having an auction, the starting price could be 1000, but I'm still not sure the sentence would make sense even in that context. Now, if you said, "an ancient cat will cost at least 1000 euros", like there are multiple ancient cats, and that's the cheapest one, that would make more sense... -QISta' On Thu, Feb 28, 2019, 10:31 mayqel qunen'oS <mihkoun@gmail.com> wrote:

Luciano and SuStel have already made their suggestions. I wanted to look at how {rav} “floor” and {‘aqroS} “(interior) top” have been used in the sense of minimum and maximum: Hung buv rav: patlh Hut classified level 9 and above (KBoP) nen rav: chorgh ben ages 8 to adult (MKE) QujwI' ghom rav: cha'; 'aqroS: jav 2 to 6 players (MKE) 'aqroS qughDo: pIvlob Hut vI' vagh maximum cruising speed – warp 9.5 (KBoP) jabbI'ID pup: Qapchu'meH 'aqroS chuq: cha' vI' chorgh loghqammey high resolution - maximum effective range - 3.5 light years (KBoP) Interestingly none of these are full sentences, merely brief “A: B” statements – like you would find in a parts list or a series of reminders. -- Voragh From: mayqel qunen'oS I was wondering how to say "In order to buy this ancient cat, you need at least a thousand euros", needing to express the "at least".
