Hi all, I've been working on porting the popular {boQwI'} Klingon Assistant program to iOS. I plan to publish it to the App Store within the next few weeks; if you are interested in testing it before the more general public availability, just e-mail me off list and I can send you an invitation to test via the App Store's "TestFlight" mechanism. The port is being done in Flutter, which supports iOS 8.0 and later on 64-bit iOS devices. Unfortunately I didn't realize that Flutter doesn't support 32-bit iOS devices until the port was already pretty far along, but hopefully there won't be too many people who would otherwise be interested in running boQwI' that get left behind by that hardware support gap. If you're interested, the project page for the port is up on GitHub: https://www.github.com/dadap/flingon-assister

(The above Klingon translation was performed by a group of Starfleet officers frantically flipping through several thick books.) The Android and iOS versions will receive the same Klingon language database updates, but not necessarily simultaneously. (Not included in Klingon text above: I’m planning to make it so that the database can be updated without updating the app; if both Android and iOS apps receive this capability, then they’ll both have access to the same up-to-date database at the same time.) Feature updates will happen separately between the two versions, as they are different codebases.

As the creator of {boQwI'} on Android, let me just say that Daniel has done an amazing job with the iOS version. Everyone who has a supported iOS device should help test it. Qapla'! On 10 March 2018 at 23:21, Daniel Dadap <daniel@dadap.net> wrote:

Hi all, Just wanted to put out an update about this. As I mentioned in a different message, the iOS port of {boQwI’} was rejected in the App Store review process, with the review feedback being that it didn’t offer any functionality beyond what is possible in a mobile website. While this is technically true, it’s also true of many other apps that are already available on the App Store, so I’m not sure why this review criterion doesn’t seem to be consistently applied. I appealed the rejection, but Apple has held firm in their decision. I’m working on enhancing the app with additional functionality that will hopefully help it clear that hurdle, but it’ll likely take a while. In the meantime, the port of {De’vID}’s Klingon TTS software is now available on the App Store. I plan to use it to provide the TTS functionality for {boQwI’}, but until then, it might be useful for general TTS. As mentioned in a message I sent to the list earlier, this app is called {HIja’}: https://itunes.apple.com/us/app/hija/id1366951358
