How do I say "how much I love (whatever)" ?
if I want to ask: "how much do I love souvlakia ?" then how do I say it ? I can't find a way to say this with {'ar} because this must follow a noun; but here the "how much" refers to the verb "love": "how much do I love.." so, what do we do here ? qunnoH jan puqloD ghoghwIj HablI'vo' vIngeHta'

I don't understand the question. What sort of answer would you expect? If you can tell me how you expect to quantify your love, I can help you ask what quantity of it you have. -- ghunchu'wI'

I don't believe {'ar} works in this situation, since there is no objective system of measuring love by which to answer the question (AFAIK). {'ar} is used when you can count "how much" or "how many" there are of a specific noun. How much fuel do we have? 10 gallons of fuel. How many people are in the room? 12 people. How many loves do you feel for Klingon? ... Instead I'd ask the person if they {par/muS} it or order them to give me their opinion on it {tlhIngan Hol bopbogh vuDlIj'e' HIja'}. qurgh
When you ask someone how much you like something, are you asking them to describe said liking? Then how about something like {/souvlaki/ DaparHa' 'e' yIDel!} Or if you want to assign numerical values... /souvlaki/ Daparqu' 'e' 'oSchugh wa' 'ej /souvlaki/ DaSopmeH bIHeghqang 'e' 'oSchugh wa' maH, SoHvaD /souvlaki/ Delbogh mI' yIngu'! ...though as ridiculous as that "on a scale from 1 to 10" stuff is to many humans, just imagine how idiotic it might sound to Klingons! ~mIp'av

In order to quantify love, of course we can't use numbers, however we certainly can say: I love (whatever) a lot I am crazy about something I slightly like whatever ..and so on there are variations of intensity as far as feelings are concerned, and when we ask someone "how much do you love/hate/like/dislike etc", we inquire about the intensity of these feelings. anyway.. after 9 hours of shut-eye (as americans say), I realized there is a way to work-around this problem. pelaD ! lets say we want to ask "how much do you love klingon ?". what are we trying to do ? we want to force the recipient to tell us "how much he loves". obviously we can't use the {'ar} because this can only refer to nouns. but we *can* say: {tlhIngan Hol DaparHa'qu''a'} or even {tlhIngan Hol DaparHa'chu''a'}. essentialy we ask someone: "do you like klingon a lot ?" or "do you perfectly like klingon ?" so, the recipient of the question is forced to reply either accepting that he likes klingon a lot, or saying that he dislikes it. or maybe even he will use more sentences describing in detail the "if he likes/dislikes and how much". whatever the case, I think that by the use of {tlhIngan Hol DaparHa'qu''a'} and/or {tlhIngan Hol DaparHa'chu''a'} we're forcing an answer which will define the "how much". either directly with a simple "yes", or indirectly through an answer which will entail more sentences. problem solved ! qunnoH jan puqloD ghoghwIj HablI'vo' vIngeHta' On 10 Dec 2016 4:30 am, "Ed Bailey" <bellerophon.modeler@gmail.com> wrote:

Consider {chay'}
believe it or not, {chay'} was my first thought; but I didn't know whether saying {chay' tlhIngan Hol DaparHa'}, actually conveyed the meaning of "how much do you love klingon ?". On the other hand, asking "how do you love klingon", forces the recipient of the question to describe "a/the way" in which he loves it, thus actually/indirectly answering the "how much do you love klingon". hmm.. I don't know.. perhaps.. Unless of course, we could use {chay'} in conjuction with something else.. but what could that be ? So far, I can't think of something.. qunnoH jan puqloD ghoghwIj HablI'vo' vIngeHta' On 11 Dec 2016 4:08 am, "Felix Malmenbeck" <felixm@kth.se> wrote:
