Klingon word: Soy' Part of speech: verb Definition: be awkward, not graceful Source: qepHom 2024 _______________________________________________ This is "awkward" in the sense of "not graceful". Meaning added at qepHom 2024. (KGT 30): while the verb {ghIH} means "be messy, sloppy" in {ta' Hol} and in most dialects, in the towns near Ruk'evet (ruq'e'vet), {ghIH} means "be careless". The more widespread word for be careless is {yepHa'}, and this word is used in addition to {ghIH} in the Ruk'evet area. To say be messy, sloppy, the Ruk'evet inhabitants say {Soy'}, a verb meaning "be clumsy" elsewhere. The Ruk'evet word for be clumsy is {jat}, which is phonetically identical to the noun meaning tongue. (qep'a 2021, in re {paSlogh tuQ DaS} "be inside-out"): Maltz thought there might be a single word for this, but he could only remember this commonly used idiom. In usage, this might be preceded by something like {ghIH wep} (or {Soy' wep") "the shirt is sloppy/disheveled" SEE: Soy'Ha' be agile (v) (qep'a' 2018) SEE ALSO: yepHa' be careless (v) ngeQ bump/run into, collide with" (v) mor be agile, dexterous (v)) - "depending on context, could also be {Soy'Ha'}" (qep'a' 2018) po' be skilled (v) yep be careful (v) -- Voragh Ca'Non Master of the Klingons
