Perhaps that's how it was originally known, but then the {bIQ} got dropped over time and "pickle ship" became the nickname.

Maybe {Hurgh Duj} originally referred to submarines or blimps and they started calling pickled peb'ots "submarines".

Maybe Klingon submarines were originally called {peb'ot Duj}, but the Klingon oceans are so salty that they came back to port covered in brine.
