To avoid the problem, I would make this two phrases:

That implies to my mind that the baby is a man. Say this instead:
ghu vIlegh; loDHom ghaH.
Really? {loD} is defined as "male, man". Having stated {ghu vIlegh}, it's obvious that {loD ghaH} means "he's male". When I read {loDHom ghaH}, it makes me think the baby isn't really a baby but an older child.
