In the 300 movie, there's a scene where Xerxes says to Leonidas "I will erase even the memory of Sparta from the histories [...] The world will never know you existed at all". I distinctively remember, that when I first saw this scene, the thought which immediately came to my mind was "Yeah.. good luck with that, a**h***..".
