We do at the University of Chicago Library (where I work as a cataloger).  There’s an extensive collection of VCR and audio cassettes which occasionally circulate by those patrons who have VCR and cassette players at home.  Some older movies, documentaries, sound recordings and other materials have never been re-issued on DVD, though I imagine much of it is now online.  We don’t buy them, of course; most are donated to us nowadays by people clearing off their shelves.

We even have a large collection of vinyl records and LPs – especially in our Jazz Recordings Collection -- for those who still have record players (remember those?).

I hope that the phrase is actually just out-of-date terminology that got stuck (like how we refer to motion pictures as "films" even though they're probably not shot or transmitted on actual film any more), and not actual magnetic ribbons used for data storage.

We really do need some more up-to-date Klingon terminology for modern day technologies. Does anyone even talk about "cassettes" any more?
