In the UK, and thence in my native Australia, another reasonably common word for a chest of drawers is a lowboy (originally from "low" plus a bastardised English pronunciation of French /bois/ "wood").
Hervé Villechaize, who played Tattoo, was only 3'10" in height at the time of his death, and he was thus a particularly short man... or a low boy.
I'm not sure if I should be ashamed of making that connection.
