Out of curiosity, you referred to the bird simply as *Raven* in your translation.  Was this before {notqa’} – “Nevermore”! <g> -- was available or was it a creative choice on your part?  I wonder… could Maltz have been inspired by the discussions to share the word with us?

Hello everyone. After 26 years of silence, and thanks to a rewatch of TNG, DS9, and VOY, I’ve decided to return to the path of the warrior. I used to write (not much) on this mailing list back in 2000; as an exercise, I started translating “The Raven” by Edgar Allan Poe with your help.
