A good point. wanI' is definitely a superior here. I don't think vay' absolutely has to be a tangible person or item (e.g., 'ach wa' vay' vIpoQ But only if you grant me / One condition; vay' qalay'ta' I gave you my word of honor [paq'batlh]), but wanI' is better.
