Good morning!
while working on the wiki I notived something that made me wonder:
There is an option to mark a word as "loanword", and also an option to mark things which are explained by Maltz as "this is a Terran thing". While editing, I noticed that basically ALL terran things are loanwords, of course.
There are a few things of Terran origin which are described with purely Klingon-origin words (not using loanwords), e.g., {may'ron raS}, {Ha'DIbaH ghIH tIr ngogh je}, and of course the list of things which are {tera' X} where {X} is the equivalent Klingon thing.
OTOH, all loanwords probably are Terran things, most likely (except for very few in-universe things).
Are you counting loanwords from languages other than Federation Standard? ;-) For example, {qajunpaQ} is a loanword from a language on Krios, and {ghormaghenDer} is likewise a loanword from another language.
So my point is: Does it make sense to have these two categories? Shouldn't it be just "loanword for terran things"?
I'm interested in your opinions.
Whether it makes sense to distinguish the two depends on what specifically you're trying to identify with your "loanword" and "Terran" markers.
