Klingon Word of the Day for Wednesday, December 24, 2025
Klingon word: 'ejyo'waw'
Part of speech: noun
Definition: star base
_______________________________________________
(TKD 20): The syllable {'ej} also occurs in {'ejyo'} Starfleet. There are, however, no known Klingon words {'ej}, {Do'}, or {yo'} that have anything to do with Starfleet, starships, the Federation, or space vehicles of any kind. It is quite likely... an Old Klingon word... that is used nowhere except in the noun {'ejDo'}. Of course, without further study, that remains pure conjecture.
Do Klingons have starbases or just regular bases? In TOS "A Private Little War" Uhura reported that the Klingon warship was "sending a routine message to their home base".
TREK LORE:
In TOS Federation starbases were usually commanded by Starfleet commodores. (cf. STEnc. [1994] p.54)
"Starbase Operations to Enterprise. Standby to receive new orders." (TOS "The Menagerie, Part 1")
