Klingon word: cheS
Part of speech: noun
Definition: *ches*, rabbit, type of animal
Source: qep'a' 23 [2016]

(MO to naHQun, 7/04/2016): There's a Klingon animal that's sort of like a rabbit called a {cheS}. So a rabbit on Earth would be, I guess, a {tera' cheS}, though, in context, {cheS} is good enough. And a bunny, I supposed is a {cheSHom} or maybe {cheSoy}.

(naHQun, 5/05/2017): . my children requested words for owl and bunny. My son was told the word {cheS} before anyone else. Marc then chose to reveal the word to everyone else during the qep'a' along with the other new words. So there is a chance that the pun has nothing to do with the rest of the words on the Body Functions and Parts page. There is also a chance that {cheS} breed like rabbits.

(qurgh, 7/2016): Dr. Okrand noted that what prompted Maltz to come up with this word in this context was not clear.

PUN: Roger Cheesbro (DloraH) + Roger Rabbit ?!

N.B. Do not confuse with the geographical name {cheSqa'} Czech Republic.

  - "There is already a word that can be used for owl. It's {lIr}, which is some sort of Klingon nocturnal bird. So an owl on Earth would be a {tera' lIr}... or just {lIr}." (MO 7/03/2016, via Michael Roney, Jr.)

TREK NOTES:
"ALICE: Character from the children's story, 'Alice in Wonderland'. Alice appeared on the amusement park planet after Dr. McCoy, on a landing party there in 2267, mentioned the world looked like something out of that fanciful book." (STEnc [1994] p.5) Alice was seen chasing the White Rabbit into some bushes. [TOS "Shore Leave"]

"Next, we take the Alices on a trip through Wonderland." [Kirk to Chekov, TOS "I, Mudd"]
