Klingon word: HerghwI'
Part of speech: noun
Definition: hypo, pneumatic hypo
_______________________________________________
Shortened form (medical jargon?) of {Hergh QaywI'} "thing which transfers medicine" [HQ 1.3:9 < veS QonoS]
(Lieven < MO, 2/27/2021): For administering the vaccine ... One could also say {javtIm raS'IS pochmeH Hergh QaywI' lo' Qel}. But it's more common to say simply {javtIm raS'IS Qay Qel}, since, in a medical context, the verb {Qay} normally implies that a {Hergh QaywI'} was involved.
TREK TRIVIA:
Klingon hyposprays were seen several times at the genetic research facility on Qu'Vat Colony. (ENT "Affliction" & "Divergence")
Visiting exobiologist J'Dan kept a Klingon "hyposyringe" in his quarters, used to treat his Ba'ltmasor Syndrome with weekly injections. (TNG "The Drumbeat"; seen in close-up)
Grilka used a hypospray to drug Quark prior to abducting him from DS9 to Kronos. (DS9 "House of Quark")
Kor used a hypospray to knock out Worf aboard the Ch'Tang before beaming to the Ning'Tao. (DS9 "Once More Unto the Breach")
