(KGT 16): especially in the more rugged parts of a planet, there may be only a small settlement or {vengHom} [village]).

(Lieven < MO's qepHom 2018 Interview): The difference between the two is that {jorchan} 'refers to the view' of a landscape, 'something you look at'. It could be a city, a forest or whatever. The word {Hatlh} refers to the countryside where you can walk into. It is somehow the opposite of the city: Some people live in the city, other live on the {Hatlh}.

  - Martok was born into a common family in the lowlands of Ketha Province on Qo'noS, a generally impoverished area. However, when he went before the Oversight Council in 2345, which was normally considered to be a simple formality, his application was rejected. Dahar Master Kor, felt that it was inappropriate for a man without noble blood to become an officer in the Klingon forces. With the "mark of Kor" on his record, Martok could not enlist even as a common soldier and was forced to become a civilian laborer. (DS9 "Once More Unto the Breach")
