Klingon Word of the Day for Thursday, May 18, 2023

Klingon word: jogh
Part of speech: noun
Definition: quadrant
_______________________________________________

jogh veH lungIv
They patrol the quadrant border. (KGT)

jogh veQ lungIv
They patrol the quadrant garbage. (KGT)

TREK NOTES:
In TOS the confusing system of galactic "quadrants" were subdivided into sectors, but by TNG we saw the four quadrant system become standard. For more information, see:
https://memory-alpha.fandom.com/wiki/Quadrant
https://memory-alpha.fandom.com/wiki/Alpha_Quadrant
https://memory-alpha.fandom.com/wiki/Beta_Quadrant
https://memory-alpha.fandom.com/wiki/Gamma_Quadrant
https://memory-alpha.fandom.com/wiki/Delta_Quadrant

AFAIK we have no idea how to refer to them in tlhIngan Hol - {jogh wa', cha', wej, loS} perhaps? For that matter instead of four {joghmey} they may use three, an extension of the three cardinal directions {chan}, {'ev} and {tIng}. "Quadrant" may turn out to be a very approximate equivalent of scale for navigation purposes.
