Klingon word: lI'choD
Part of speech: noun
Definition: plasma (state of matter)
Source: qep'a' 23 [2016]
_______________________________________________

AFAIK never used in a sentence.

Plasma is "a collection of charged particles (as in the atmospheres of stars or in a metal) containing about equal numbers of positive ions and electrons and exhibiting some properties of a gas but differing from a gas in being a good conductor of electricity and in being affected by a magnetic field a collection of charged particles (as in the atmospheres of stars or in a metal) containing about equal numbers of positive ions and electrons and exhibiting some properties of a gas but differing from a gas in being a good conductor of electricity and in being affected by a magnetic field." (Merriam-Webster's Collegiate Dictionary)

TREK NOTES:
The Enterprise shuttlepods are equipped with plasma-cannons while the ship itself is equipped with (more powerful?) phase-cannons. (ENT “Awakening”, “Kir’Shara”, etc.) Earth Cargo Service freighters are equipped with one Type 1 plasma cannon, which some ship owners upgrade to Type 2. (ENT “Fortunate Son”)

The MACOs on Enterprise use plasma rifles which fire a pulse of blue energy. (ENT [various episodes]) The Enterprise shuttlepods are equipped with plasma-cannons while the ship itself is equipped with (more powerful?) phase-cannons. (ENT “Awakening”, “Kir’Shara”, etc.)

There were plasma eddies in the storm (i.e. an approaching neutronic wavefront) in ENT “the Catwalk” forcing the crew to take shelter in the shilded warp nacelles. There were also numerous plasma eddies in "The Badlands" near the Federation-Cardassian colonies which were exploited by the Maquis. (DS9 various episodes)

Lursa and B'Etor's old D-12 Bird-of-Prey was destroyed by the Enterprise-D over Veridian III. The D-12s were recalled from service due to a defective plasma coil in the cloaking device; an ionic pulse can reset the coil, causing the ship to suddenly cloak and drop its shields. (ST:Gen)

After the USS Odyssey was attacked by a Jem’Hadar cruiser, its port nacelle started venting plasma. (DS9 “The Jem’Hadar”)

"We're venting drive plasma." [from the starboard nacelle after colliding with the USS Bozeman] (Data, TNG "Cause and Effect")

There were several ongoing problems with the plasma-intakes and -manifolds in the matter/anti-matter reactor following Voyager’s encounter with the Borg and Species 8472. (VOY “The Gift”)
