It's not that the KLI is rudderless or less organized, it's that this
list is no longer the focal point of Klingon language studies for the
Klingon Language Institute. The vast majority of Klingon speakers are
on a different boat at this point in time (eg: this list has ~304
subscribers, Discord has ~784 members, and the Learn Klingon group has
2.7K+ members).

Look at the archive and you see the same half a dozen people talking
on the list. New students aren't joining it. They are using tools like
Duolingo, Facebook, and Discord. These tools allow for real time, or
near real time, conversations and that's what new students expect. For
the KLI to keep attracting new students from the new generations of
people, it has to move with the times and use the tools they want to
use.

If there's someone on this mailing list that wants to be a BG, then
the active members of this list can work together to assign that
person that role, but they won't really have much work to do. If there
needs to be something official from the KLI, I can do that. I don't
believe it will be a good learning experience for them as it was in
the past, and they could get a better experience using their time in
the places where there are lots of students seeking answers.
