Klingon word: yu'
Part of speech: verb
Definition: question, interrogate
Source: TKD
_______________________________________________
qayu'
I interrogate you. (KLS)
(KGT 153): This verb [{luH}] literally means yank and is used in such sentences as {jav luHpu' 'avwI'} ("The guard has caused a prisoner to confess"--literally, "The guard has yanked a six"). Standard words expressing the same notions are {DISmoH} (cause to confess) and {peghHa'moH} (cause to not keep a secret).
(KGT 55) : Klingon technology has produced two weapons used, as far as is known, only by the Klingons themselves... The second distinctly Klingon weapon is the {QIghpej} [agonizer], a hand-held device that produces excruciating pain when pressed up against an adversary.
The {QIghpej} is worn on the belt and applied to the cheek; one was used to torture Chekov on Beta XII-A. (TOS "Day of the Dove") Agonizers are also used in the Mirror Universe along with the agony booth (TOS "Mirror, Mirror"].
TREK TRIVIA:
“There’s no careful way to question a Klingon.” (Odo to Sisko, DS9 “Visionary”)
DAX: Have you been able to make any headway with Sakonna?
ODO: Have you ever tried to interrogate a Vulcan, Lieutenant?
DAX: No.
ODO: Neither did I until today. I wouldn't advise it. That calm measured voice
that tells you nothing, that impassive stare. It can be quite frustrating.
(DS9 “The Maquis, Part II”)
